Overview

We are looking for a Director of Project Development – Northeast. This strategic role’s primary focus is to identify potential client and project targets within the Science and Academic markets in the Northeast. Flad is a national architectural firm, with ten offices across the country, specializing in science, healthcare, academic, and workplace spaces. Flad is a team of creative, intelligent, energetic people who help our clients tackle the issues that change people’s lives.

How will your days be spent

  • Explore and develop a variety of lead sources for potential targets. Monitor trends and clients.
  • Within the strategic markets of science and technology and higher education, identify potential client and project targets; conduct research to determine their viability for Flad.  
  • Develop and implement strategies to qualify the client and project lead. Determine if the client and their potential project align with Flad’s strategic positioning or will assist in ultimately achieving the strategic position, and the timing for when this client will have project work to award.
  • Investigate and establish partnering opportunities with other professional organizations. Develop and maintain contacts with appropriate architectural, engineering, consulting teammates, and subject matter experts.
  • Work with the appropriate leaders, assist in developing an annual marketing plan and budget
  • Develop a strategy for Flad’s participation in industry trade shows, events, seminars and the community where located. Implement the agreed upon strategy.  Represent the firm as appropriate.

What you bring to this role

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years relevant business development experience required
  • Successful experience in networking and developing leads with clients and team members.
  • Proven experience in targeting and cultivating leads for professional service resulting in winning new work.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, architecture or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Other Skills:

  • Proficient in Cosential or other contact management software
  • Ability to travel to clients job sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of architecture, engineering, and/or construction field (preferred).

Annual base salary range is currently: $100,000 – $190,000. Actual starting salary will be within that range, and is dependent upon job-related education, knowledge, and experience.
